The new Dufour 48 Catamaran is Dufour Catamarans' first catamaran, and it sets a major new trend. Dufour-Catamarans was previously only focused on monohull manufacture; nevertheless, this new project – the Dufour 48 Catamaran – has a clear relationship to the rest of the line, with recognizable design and several creative ideas.

The huge outside cockpit, which is shaded by the fly and is on the same level as the living area and kitchen, is a key feature. The fly also takes on a new dimension, serving as both a command post for the boat and a sunbathing area, as well as an unpublished elevated lounge for enjoying rare moments of leisure in absolute solitude.
